The Highland Papaya also known as Babaco is a plant native to Ecuador. It is a natural hybrid between two species of papaya (Caricapubescens and Carica stipulate).
The fruit is seedless and is pentagonal in shape. Its color is bright yellow. The flesh is very juicy, slightly acidic and low in sugar. Its unique flavor has been described as having overtones of strawberry, pineapple and papaya. In addition of it´s delicious taste, the highland papaya is also very rich on vitamin A and C.
Offers a distinctively sweet and mild taste, different from traditional papaya.
